When an AI video tool shuts down, your access ends on a fixed date, your files may be deleted for good, and any workflow you built around that one tool stops working overnight. That is not a hypothetical. It is exactly what happened this year to OpenAI’s Sora, and it is the reason I spent part of this Sunday auditing my own pipeline instead of writing new scenes for Lost Garden.
Here is the timeline, and it moved faster than most people expected. OpenAI discontinued the Sora web and app experienceson April 26, 2026, less than three months after signing a headline deal with Disney.
