OpenAI Appoints Meta Veteran Sandhya Devanathan as VP for Southeast Asia and Australia

Sandhya Devanathan will join OpenAI in October to lead consumer growth, enterprise adoption, partnerships and regulatory engagement across Southeast Asia and Australia.

OpenAI has appointed Sandhya Devanathan, Meta’s Vice President for India and Southeast Asia, as Vice President for Southeast Asia and Australia, strengthening its regional leadership as the AI company expands across Asia-Pacific.

Devanathan will join OpenAI in October and will be based in Singapore. She will report to Kiran Mani, Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at OpenAI. Her mandate will span consumer growth, enterprise adoption and partnerships, regulatory engagement, and operations across Southeast Asia and Australia.

The newly created role will make Devanathan OpenAI’s most senior executive covering Southeast Asia and Australia. She will also work on partnerships with businesses, institutions and governments as OpenAI seeks to broaden adoption of its AI products across the region.
