Omnivision Has Its Eye on Industrial Automation, Smart Vehicles, and Robotics with New Image Sensors

Omnivision has announced a pair of new global-shutter image sensors, in five- and 12-megapixel variants, targeting computer vision products in industrial automation, vehicles, and robotics.

"In situations where speed, vibration and motion are constant, maintaining image clarity becomes critical," says Omnivision's Kelly Yan of the advantage offered by the company's latest sensors. "However, not all image sensors are equipped to deliver the consistency required in these conditions. “Global shutter sensors address this challenge by capturing each frame with synchronized exposure, eliminating motion-related distortions."
