Nvidia’s Huang questioned Amodei’s AI warnings at White House, WSJ reports

Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang and other tech leaders questioned Anthropic’s Dario Amodei about his public warnings on AI at Tuesday’s White House lunch. People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal about the exchange. Amodei replied that it was important to be honest, according to the report.

The exchange came just after the executives agreed to sign a statement of principles on AI safety, Amrith Ramkumar and Josh Dawsey reported. They then gathered around President Donald Trump outside the White House to present a united industry. TNW has not independently verified the account.

Two camps at one table

Amodei and OpenAI’s Sam Altman have called for heavier government regulation and a slowdown in AI development, Politico noted. Huang and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg have largely dismissed critics who say AI could pose an existential risk.
