NSF launches a new AI research operations center

The new center will help support the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource’s transition from a pilot into a permanent part of the agency.
The National Science Foundation unveiled a new “backbone” for its artificial intelligence research resource on Tuesday, called the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource Operations Center.
The NAIRR Operations Center will support the broader program offering researchers access to data and other computational resources for their advanced AI research. The operations center will coordinate efforts between research resource partners and offer support and training to users working with the NAIRR.
The NAIRR itself was initially launched in January 2024, linking private sector partners like NVIDIA, OpenAI and Microsoft with NAIRR researchers. It was set to expire in January 2026, and is now transitioning to a permanent part...
