‘Not many mechanical keyboards offer better value than this’: I was impressed by the quality of this budget Keychron — but there’s one area where it’s sorely lacking
From the aluminum frame and Double Shot PBT keycaps to the 8K polling rate and hot-swappable mechanical switches, the K2 Ultra 8K certainly has the makings of a top-flight keyboard. It’s too thick to use comfortably without a wrist rest, though, and the stock keycaps and switches in my review unit weren’t ideal for typing. But when you consider it’s cheaper than boards with similar specs, the K2 Ultra 8K represents good value for money.
Pros
- +High build quality
- +Hot-swappable hardware
- +Good value
Cons
- -Very thick with no wrist support
- -Red switches require heavy touch
- -Stock keycaps aren’t shine-through
