Nexus Mods Just Bought SteamDB: Here's What It Means For PC Gaming
SteamDB, the oh-so-useful community-driven database that tracks concurrent players, pricing histories, and backend updates for PC gaming's largest storefront, has been acquired by modding titan Nexus Mods. But what does that mean for the rest of us?
The acquisition comes after SteamDB founder Pavel "xPaw" Djundik revealed that running the site, which started as a passion project in 2013, had escalated into an unsustainable workload. Facing severe burnout as Steam's ecosystem scaled, Djundik began searching for a partner capable of keeping the platform going. Of all the potential suitors, he went with Nexus Mods to provide the resources, dedicated staff, and long-term infrastructure stability that he could no longer muster.
