Nexperia will make chips in India with Tata as it splits from Wingtech
“We are thrilled to partner with Nexperia for manufacturing their products at our semiconductor facilities in Dholera and Jagiroad,” said Randhir Thakur, chief executive of Tata Electronics.
The Dutch chipmaker and the Indian manufacturer announced a partnership on Thursday covering chip production and packaging in India. They issued the joint statement from Nijmegen and New Delhi.
Reuters described the deal as further sealing Nexperia’s split with its Chinese parent, Wingtech. Toby Sterling reported it from Amsterdam.
Neither company disclosed the financial terms.
What the two companies agreed
The partnership has three pillars: front-end wafer fabrication, back-end assembly and test, and technology and ecosystem development.
The two are laying the groundwork to produce Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata’s 300mm fab in Dholera, Gujarat. The plant is still under construction.
The back end goes to Assam. Tata will assemble and test Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products at its packaging facility in Jagiroad.
