New Xbox Division XP Will Adapt More Video Games for Movies and TV - CNET

The Xbox reset continues. Despite a rough year of revenue losses, layoffs and major restructuring, the Microsoft gaming division announced Thursday that it’s going big into the entertainment industry and elsewhere.

After the resounding success of A Minecraft Movie and the Fallout TV series — both of which are longtime video game titles — Xbox is creating a division called XP to expand its video game brands into movies, TV, merchandise and even live events, the company said.

Xbox has hundreds of games in its catalog, with only Minecraft, Fallout and Halo adapted for film and TV. But there are a few other adaptations in the works — movies for Call of Duty and Gears of War, and a Netflix animated series for Diablo.
