Munich Airport and Celonis - proving process intelligence works in operations, not just the back office
Munich Airport is the second largest airport in Europe and was the first to achieve five-star status on the continent. It opened a little over 30 years ago, and today handles tens of thousands of bags a day across an operation that depends on the airport, the airlines, the ground handlers and the passengers all moving in lock-step. One mistake in that chain can ripple through everything else and cause headaches for passengers on their journeys.
For the past four years the airport has been working with Process Intelligence vendor Celonis - and interestingly, it chose to prove the technology in live operations from the outset, rather than confining it to the back-office processes where process mining has a longer track record.
