MSI's New Pro Max QD-OLED Ultrawide Takes Aim At Apple's Studio Display

MSI is taking direct aim at Apple’s workspace display dominance with its new Pro Max 341QPXW14G, expanding on its lineup of Pro Max displays designed specifically for macOS workstations. Or as MSI puts it, a monitor with intentions of "redefining the ultrawide Mac workspace."

The new display is built around Samsung’s 5th-generation QD-OLED panel tech. Given the intended audience, MSI opted to swap the more aggressive gaming aesthetics found on some of its other monitors for a clean silver-and-white minimalist design language. It's not just about matching Apple's Studio Display on style points, though.

MSI's Pro Max 341QPXW14G sports an expansive 34-inch screen with a 3440x1440 resolution (21:9 aspect ratio) and reasonably fast 144Hz refresh rate. It's a wide canvas, though more importantly, MSI is touting an optimized RGB strip sub-pixel layout. Why does this matter?
