As AI moves deeper into software engineering, the Bengaluru-based e-commerce company Meesho said more than 70% of its code is now being generated by AI, signalling a shift in how engineering teams build, test and ship software. The company is also using AI across personalised discovery, customer support, delivery routing and address intelligence, with Pratik revealing that every delivery on Meesho now goes through its Geo-India LLM.
In a conversation with CiOL, Kumar Pratik, Head of Engineering, Meesho, spoke about how AI is reshaping the engineering lifecycle, why engineers are moving from coding towards judgement and problem-solving, and how this is changing the skills expected from junior engineers. He also discussed Meesho’s India-specific approach to AI, including Geo-India LLM’s role in delivery and network intelligence, and how its Bharat ML Stack has reduced AI costs by 60% to 70%.
