MoonPay Launches PayBox
MoonPay released PayBox on Wednesday; the tool lets users initiate cryptocurrency trades, token swaps, DeFi actions, and certain real-world payments through conversational prompts. PayBox is a non-custodial payment vault that connects to ChatGPT and Claude.
Users install a custom connector inside either AI assistant, register a passkey, and link a wallet or payment cards. They can then instruct the AI to perform tasks such as swapping tokens, bridging assets, or booking reservations. Transactions require passkey approval unless the user enables limited autonomous spending within predefined limits. Approvals are single-use and can be revoked.
At launch, PayBox supports Solana along with Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo, and Robinhood Chain. It also integrates the x402 payment standard, which currently allows restaurant reservations, travel bookings, and purchases from select online retailers.
