MongoDB’s ‘run anywhere’ strategy begins to pay off - as Atlas and EA provide two growth engines
NoSQL document database provider MongoDB delivered a strong second quarter for fiscal year 2027, with total revenue up 30%, cloud-based revenue up 29% and remaining performance obligations up 91%. Its customers generating at least $100,000 in ARR are also up by 17%, which is always a good indication of the direction of travel for enterprise buyers.
This quarter is particularly interesting, though, as the vendor’s self-managed Enterprise Advanced business significantly outperformed expectations. EA revenue grew 36%, while EA ARR - which removes some of the distortion caused by multiyear contracts - grew 11% for its third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. This uptick in self-managed environments is likely driven by regulated sectors.
The company’s cloud offering - Atlas - is still seeing strong sequential growth, but the rise in EA points to how some companies aren’t willing to send their data to public cloud environments for AI workloads.
