Modernizing a Game Boy Color To Make it More Modern
The Nintendo Game Boy Color was a perfect console in every way — except all the ways in which it wasn’t. As amazing as it felt at the time, 30 years of collective experience has revealed some pretty serious flaws. In all fairness to Nintendo, those were mostly compromises made based on the available technology and need to fit a modest budget. But Zac of the perplexingly named Zac Builds YouTube channel has a new video demonstrating how you can modernize the Game Boy Color to achieve true perfection.
Everything Zac addresses in this video is well-known in the Game Boy modding community, but it is still a great overview for those of you who aren’t deep into that niche. As Zac demonstrates, these mods are pretty easy to perform if you have some experience working with electronics and the ability to do some basic soldering.
