Microsoft's New Surface Pro Costs Nearly 50% More Than Its Predecessor

On Tuesday, Microsoft unveiled the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, which come in new colorways and contain an upgraded processor—but watch out for a steep price hike.

The new 13-inch Surface Pro comes in Platinum, Black, and Dune (copper). It starts at $1,499 for a Snapdragon X2 Plus (10 Core) chip and goes up to $1,799 for a Snapdragon X2 Elite (12 Core). Microsoft says the 13" X2 model gives up to 53% faster graphics than the last‑gen Snapdragon X Elite version, with up to 15.5 hours of battery life, but at a cost: This 13-inch Surface Pro is $500 more than the last edition's original 2025 launch MSRP and $300 over its 2025 "storage‑bumped" base.
