Microsoft Tests 'Quiet Windows' Concept With Whimsical Animated Grass
Microsoft is toying with a quieter approach to Windows via PowerToys, its operating system customization utilities for "power users." The test centers on an animated footer above the taskbar featuring animated grass decorated with moving bunnies, mushrooms, and butterflies.
The idea is for Windows to feel less distracting and more calming. The idea surfaced at a recent Windows Insiders meetup, where PowerToys lead Clint Rutkas revealed a new design that renders a strip of pixel-art scenes along the bottom of the screen, including a calm meadow with gently moving grass. He mentioned that the footer will likely be included in PowerToys once the team finalizes the design and documentation, as reported by PCWorld.
