Microsoft Is Fighting Teams AI Scamming With New Report Button
Microsoft Teams is getting a new “Report a concern” option in meetings, which will give participants a way to report/flag if they feel suspicious activity inside the meeting, tied to phishing, impersonation, scams, social engineering, deepfakes, and similar.
The new option will not act as an automatic deepfake detector. Instead, it will let attendees send a security report from inside the meeting or from meeting chat, so admins or the security team can review the case afterward, as reported by Windows Latest.
The Teams app already supports reporting to some extent, like suspicious messages, and the company has been expanding that reporting model across chats, channels, calls, and meetings. The new meeting report option extends this functionality into live meetings; AI voice cloning and synthetic videos make it easier to impersonate people and harder to detect quickly; at least the reporting should be easy.
