Meta’s Muse AI Shared a User’s Home Address Following Confusion About Permissions

Meta's new Muse AI agent shared a Toronto YouTuber's home address with a Facebook Marketplace buyer, prompting the company to clarify when (and for what) users are giving broad access permissions.

The incident occurred after Matt Robb's Facebook account—and, by extension, his Muse agent—received several messages asking for his address. Previously, when Muse asked Robb for permission to handle Marketplace transactions, Robb selected "Allow Always," thinking the agent would still ask for confirmation or approval when sensitive decisions, like providing location information or agreeing to buy something, came around. But during a Marketplace transaction involving a keyboard, Muse "agreed [to] a lowball price" and sent the buyer Robb's address. The buyer went to Robb's apartment, but Robb reportedly had no idea the buyer had arrived until later, after the buyer left without an in-person response.
