'Meta Turns Facebook Search Into An AI Conversation

Meta has unveiled a new set of AI capabilities designed to change how people discover information, create content, and engage with the platform. The centrepiece is "AI Mode", a search experience that pulls answers from public conversations happening across Facebook.

Turning Facebook Into an Answer Engine

Rather than directing users to traditional search results, AI Mode allows people to ask questions in plain language and receive synthesised responses generated from public posts, Groups, and Reels.

The feature follows Meta's quieter rollout of Forum, a Reddit-like app introduced last month that includes an "Ask" tab capable of surfacing answers from Facebook Group discussions.

The strategic intent is becoming clearer. Facebook is no longer positioning itself merely as a destination for content consumption.
