MartyPC Creator Daniel Balsom Turns Emojis Into Working Executable Files for MS-DOS Systems

Daniel Balsom, creator of the cycle-accurate MartyPC emulator for classic IBM Personal Computers and compatibles, has figured out a new programming language for classic computers: emojis.

"This particular [project] comes out of left field a bit," Balsom says by way of background. "I was playing around with a web application I had made — an online disassembler for the x86 [instruction set architecture] — when I noticed that emoji were being encoded into the URL. I pasted a goat emoji, 🐐, and I noticed the encoding %F0%9F%90%90."
