The European Union is planning to introduce an officially sanctioned AI platform to provide European lawmakers with a safer alternative to publicly available AI tools.

The platform, dubbed the ‘EPGenAI Hub’, will include Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral models designed for legislative purposes. Multiple Members of European Parliament (MEPs) have raised concerns about the growing use of AI within the European Parliament, prompting the development of a platform that doesn’t feed sensitive information into public models.

Around 20% of the parliament’s current staff use AI tools in their daily work - or about 2,100 people - which has contributed to some legislative materials containing errors and AI hallucinations.
