LightMetrics Brings AI Video Compression to Fleets as Dashcam Data Surges
LightMetrics, a Bengaluru-based deeptech startup founded in 2015 by former Nokia Research engineers. It provides an AI-powered video telematics platform that processes real-time camera feeds to monitor driver behavior, prevent road accidents, and offer live in-cab coaching.
It has launched its Neural Network Video Compression (NNVC) technology in India, bringing an AI-based approach to a problem that commercial fleets increasingly face: how to store, transmit, and manage growing volumes of dashcam footage without continuously adding more storage hardware.
Fleet operators use video for safety monitoring, compliance, insurance investigations, incident analysis, and driver coaching. But as the volume of footage grows, so do the costs associated with storage and data transmission.
According to LightMetrics, NNVC can help fleets store up to 2.5 times more footage on the same 128GB SD card and reduce video upload data consumption by up to 50%. The company says this can be achieved through a software...
