LightMake Lays Claim to the "World's First" Four-Head FFF 3D-Printer with Direct-Drive Linear Motors
Desktop 3D printing startup LightMake is preparing to open a crowdfunding campaign for what it claims as the "world's first independent four-head 3D printer powered by linear motors" — saying it can near-eliminate filament purge wastage in multi-material and multi-color printing while boosting print speeds.
"Imagine this," a LightMake spokesperson instructs us by way of visualizing the company's upcoming L4 printer. "You're printing in color, and 80% of your expensive filament ends up as purge waste in the trash. The wasted material, the wasted time, the wasted money add up fast. But there's a solution.
