Back in July, it came to light that LG monitors could actually install bloatware on your machine (specifically, an LG app that shilled McAfeee security software at you) through Windows Update. Understandably, gamers were furious, with many vowing to never consider an LG monitor again. Now, LG has officially responded to the fierce backlash, confirming that it is turning off the included McAfee trial pop-ups, and promising to avoid "third-party software recommendations" in the future.
Let's be blunt: shoving McAfee trialware into a display utility is completely unacceptable. When gamers spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a high-end gaming monitor,the absolute last thing they expect is for Windows Update to silently fetch an LG companion app that immediately starts pitching 30-day antivirus trials on boot.
