Leadership development for an unpredictable future - an ArvatoConnect use case
Senior executives are under pressure, and many are feeling the strain. In fact, as research by career services company TopResume indicates, a huge 38% of executives and aspiring C-suite leaders have considered leaving their role over the last 12 months. Nearly one in five think about doing so regularly.
The problem is not being helped by leadership development programs that are no longer fit for purpose [see first feature]. This is partly because they tend to focus more on teaching leaders how to perform specific tasks rather than building what Dr Matt Paden, President of Great Days Leadership, calls "character".
Another criticism is that they often place too much emphasis on theory and not enough on practical, hands-on experience. A third challenge, says Paden, is that in large organizations, in particular, a lot of attention may be paid to developing people, but such activity tends to be fragmented":
