Kaspersky: 87% of APAC SMBs Faced Cyber Incidents in 2026
Kaspersky warns that attackers are currently deploying the same methods against smaller businesses as they do against large enterprises. To help strengthen corporate defences, Kaspersky is releasing new recommendations alongside findings from a global survey by its Internal Research Center, which found that just 13% of businesses with fewer than 500 employees in APAC region avoided a cyber incident in the past year.
Vietnam encountered highest incidents in the region at 97%, followed by Malaysia (95%), Indonesia (92), and India (87%). Thailand and China reported incidents lower than regional average at 82% and 67% respectively.
The illusion that small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) can fly under the radar of cybercriminals is becoming obsolete. As smaller organizations digitalize, and the cost of launching cyberattacks plummets, threat actors are increasingly shifting their focus toward growth-stage companies, weaponizing emerging technologies and exploiting all possible cybersecurity gaps.
