iOS 27, macOS 27 to Let You Swap Siri AI for Claude and Other Third-Party Models
Apple's Siri AI can allow third-party models like Claude or ChatGPT to replace its own server model in iOS 27 and macOS 27.
One method, called Model Delegation, allows a third-party model to appear in Siri's "Ask…" menu. In a demo from X user pdfu, the user picks Claude from the menu and asks it to create a reminder. Claude interprets the request while Siri handles the system action. Meanwhile, a dialog box explicitly states that "Claude works with Mac and Siri."

Another method lets users replace Siri's server model entirely with an external one using an Inference Provider. This way, the external model gets prompt and tool-definition information from Siri, requests system actions infused with the user's personal data, and sends back answers for Siri to display using its UI and voice.
