Ionage Secures $1.3 Million To Expand EV Charging Access

Bengaluru-based EV charging technology startup Ionage has raised $1.3 million in pre-Series A funding to expand its charging network coverage and improve interoperability between charging operators.

The round was led by strategic investors and a consortium of senior executives from energy and infrastructure companies. Ionage has not disclosed the individual investors or its valuation.

Rather than building and owning charging stations, the startup operates an asset-light software platform that connects charge-point operators (CPOs), charging equipment manufacturers, property owners, commercial fleets and EV drivers.

Its approach is similar in concept to how India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) connects different banks through a common payment infrastructure. Ionage aims to create a shared layer through which drivers can discover, access and pay for chargers operated by different companies.
