Intel Might Double Wildcat Lake P-Cores in 2027 Refresh
Intel might have only just released its entry-level Wildcat Lake CPUs, but it's already working on its sequel, according to a new rumor. The company reportedly plans to refresh Wildcat Lake in 2027 with a revamped core structure offering four P-cores and four LPE cores, instead of the current 2+4 configuration. This would offer a dramatic increase in multi-threaded performance and represent a sizeable upgrade.
Intel's Wildcat Lake CPUs have been a surprise darling of 2026. With prices of high-end components so astronomical this year, cost-effective designs are the new hotness, and following Apple's launch of the $600 MacBook Neo, sub-$700 Windows laptops with Wildcat Lake chips have been some of the most impressive.
But 2 P-Cores and 4-LPE cores are quite light on performance, and it may be that before long, everyone expects a bit more from their cheap laptops. That's where this refresh could be well timed.
