Intel Diamond Rapids Xeon 7 CPU Leaks With Massive 240MB L3 Cache
A SiSoftware benchmark for an early engineering sample of Intel's upcoming Diamond Rapids "Xeon 7" processor, spotted by 188号 (@Momomo_US on Xwitter), shows promising progress for Intel's 18A-P followup to its 18A fabrication node. This colossal piece of silicon, which will be part of Intel's Xeon response to AMD's Zen 6 EPYC Venice processors, demands an absolutely enormous LGA 9324 socket capable of supplying power to SKUs with TDPs scaling up to 650 watts, although this chip has just 32 cores.
Operating conservatively at just 1.1 GHz in Intel's evaluation labs, this specific sample doesn't tell us much about the final performance of the parts, but it does offer a glimpse into a massively upscaled memory subsystem, as it sports 64 MB of L2 cache alongside a staggering 240 MB of L3 cache.
