India’s Data Centre Boom Drives Demand for Skilled Talent
India’s rapidly expanding data centre industry is opening up a new employment landscape as growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure drives investments across the country. While the focus around data centres often centres on capacity, investment and infrastructure, the availability of skilled professionals capable of building and operating these facilities is emerging as an equally important challenge.
India’s data centre capacity was around 1.5 GW in 2025 and is projected to reach nearly 6–6.5 GW by 2030, according to Rubix Data Sciences. The expansion is being supported by increasing cloud adoption, AI workloads and growing digital consumption. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has also said India could attract at least $200 billion in additional data centre investments, although no specific timeframe was given.
