India Records 14% PHP2Shell Impact Rate, Above Global Average
India recorded a PHP2Shell impact rate of 14%, higher than the global average of 10%, as security researchers warn that artificial intelligence (AI) is accelerating the discovery and exploitation of software vulnerabilities.
According to Check Point Research, India ranked 11th among 18 countries with the highest reported impact rates following the disclosure of PHP2Shell vulnerabilities in October 2026. The flaws affect the PHP runtime, the software that executes PHP code on web servers, potentially exposing websites, online stores and enterprise applications to remote attacks.
The vulnerabilities could allow attackers to execute their own code on affected servers without logging in, potentially leading to data theft, service disruptions or attacks on connected systems, Check Point said.
The incident has drawn comparisons with Log4Shell, a critical software vulnerability disclosed in 2021 that affected applications using the widely deployed Log4j logging library. Check Point said details of the PHP2Shell vulnerabilities leaked before the...
