I tested Ugreen's NASync DXP8800 Ultra but does a new chip justify the big price jump?

Ugreen has changed the engine, not the car. The Ultra is quicker and better equipped for the long haul, but the Plus still does almost everything it does for far less money. Buy the Ultra only if you will use the extra headroom, or if RAM comes down in price.

Reasons to buy

  • +Beautifully engineered
  • +Newer Core 7 150U processor
  • +Up to 96GB of memory
  • +Dual 10GbE LAN ports
  • +Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • +PCIe Gen 4 slot

Reasons to avoid

  • -Costs much more than the Plus model
  • -Gains over the Plus are modest
  • -No ECC memory support
  • -UGOS Pro still lacks Hybrid RAID technology
