I tested the RugOne Xlink 7 and it's a sophisticated rugged 4G walkie-talkie for populated wilderness, but not truly remote regions

I can’t fault the execution of the RugOne Xlink 7, because the device ticks all the boxes for toughness and reliable communications. My issue is with 4G comms, which, by definition, make this device unsuitable for remote locations.

Cons

  • -Only 4G comms
  • -Additional service costs after a year
  • -Limit of three user group calls
  • -You still need your phone
