I tested Sony's 'entry-level' PS-LX3BT turntable and discovered a competent-sounding deck let down by a big price problem
The Sony PS-LX3BT is a bit of a shame, really. It’s a fully automatic turntable that works well and sounds good, with a built-in phono preamp, gain control and aptX Adaptive Bluetooth transmission that just works. But all that goodness is trapped in a cheap chassis, behind an outsized official price and with an eye to keeping you in the Sony ecosystem through proprietary part replacements. As good as it can be when it wants to be, it’s not an easy turntable to recommend for beginners in a market saturated with better, cheaper options.
