The processor may already be over a year old, yet combined with a powerful GPU, NPU and a stack of RAM, it has the raw power to comfortably run local AI. Standard mini PC performance is workstation-level, perfect for high-end creative and business use. As with the competition, the Pro Max Edge AI+ enables you to run LLMs fully offline and at speed, all made possible by the 128GB of unified memory, Strix Halo CPU and powerful integrated Radeon 8060S graphics. However, some other aspects feel dated, such as the slow 2.5GbE network; still, that local AI potential is impressive.

Reasons to buy

  • +Excellent local AI
  • +Huge unified memory
  • +Compact workstation design

Reasons to avoid

  • -Older CPU
  • -RAM can’t be upgraded further
  • -Large power draw for a mini PC
