I tested Bose's Sonos-busting chic ‘Lifestyle Ultra’ speaker, which looks the part and sounds it too over Wi-Fi — but it could do with some hi-res Bluetooth chops to back it up

There’s so much to like about the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker, and so little to take issue with, that it demands a spot on your shortlist. If a tall, punchy and well-defined spatial audio performance from a good-looking and well-made product sounds like your kind of thing, you need to hear this wireless speaker pronto.

Pros

  • +Tall, well-defined and notably punchy sound
  • +Good looks complemented by great standard of build and finish
  • +Happy to work in a multi-brand multi-room system
  • +Alexa+ is among several good control options

Cons

  • -Needs greater Bluetooth codec support
  • -Could conceivably sound wider
  • -‘TrueSpatial’ is not as effective as Dolby Atmos
