I Picked My Water Filter Based (Mostly) on Looks. I Don’t Regret It for a Second

When I was interviewing water filtration experts, Eric Roy, a water scientist and filtration expert, reminded me that the best filter system is the one that fits your life. After testing more than 10 countertop units, one model rose to the top of the heap for its pure filtering power, but it’s not the one I chose for my own home.

It seemed foolish not to recognize the AquaTru Carafe reverse osmosis filter as best overall, given its rigorous certifications for contaminant removal — lead, copper, microplastics, forever chemicals, emerging contaminants — so I did. But that powerhouse system isn’t the one I wanted on my counter. I did some cost-benefit-risk analysis and decided on another.
