Digital storage has gotten quite pricy in recent months. And even if you splurge for terabytes of onboard storage for your phone or computer, at some point you'll probably run out of storage space. When that happens, you might be tempted to just upload everything to the cloud -- but are iCloud or Google One really worth the price?

Cloud storage hasn't always been expensive. When Google Photos debuted in 2015, it promised free, unlimited storage. I happily uploaded all my photos and videos, knowing they were safe in the cloud and accessible from anywhere.
