The speed at which people are able to transport people, goods, and ultimately data is one of the most important pieces of humanity’s progression throughout history. It can even be argued that how fast we are able to move something from point A to point B is directly correlated with where we stand in the larger scheme of progress. This has been one of humanity’s top priorities for centuries, even when people did not consciously understand that this was the goal. Every major technological leap has in some way been a leap in speed, whether that speed involved moving food, moving people, moving products, moving money, or moving information.

Understanding this premise makes ideas such as simulation theory much more digestible. If the world is looked at as a massive system of information transfer, then the entire history of human progress starts to look like a constant attempt to move...
