How to Stop AI Chatbots From Training on Your Personal Data
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’ve used the likes of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or some other AI chatbot. People continue to use them for day-to-day help with writing, generating images and for vibe coding apps and games. And that’s not even talking about the capabilities of agentic AI.
However, to get the best results, AI chatbots tend to need more context and information from you — some of which may be personal information — to complete the task. This data is stored on the chatbot’s parent company’s servers, such as OpenAI’s and Google’s, and can be used to train AI models. If you’re using a chatbot for something sensitive, like personal health, you might not want that info to be regurgitated to someone else asking a similar question.
