HeyGears' New G1X UV 3D Printer Can MIx More Than 10 Million Colors for Brighter 3D Prints
Digital manufacturing specialist HeyGears has launched a crowdfunding campaign for what it is positioning as the world's first desktop full-color 3D and ultraviolet (UV) printer: the HeyGears G1X.
"Most desktop UV printers only print on surfaces or simple textures. They can't create 3D objects from scratch," HeyGears' Peiyan Gui claims of the niche the new device aims to fill. "FDM [Fused Deposition Modeling, more commonly known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)] and resin printers build 3D models, but color is often limited. G1X goes beyond both, creating real full-color 3D objects from digital ideas, with UV printing, 3D textures, and more workflows built into one machine."
UV printing is commonly used to put full-color imagery on otherwise hard-to-handle materials like glass, ceramics, and metals. 3D printers, meanwhile, use additive manufacturing to create three-dimensional objects from feedstock.
