HCLTech Plans AI Data Centre Expansion with ₹3,500 Crore Investment
The IT major HCLTech announced its entry into the full-stack artificial intelligence (AI) market with plans to invest up to ₹3,500 crore to establish AI data centres as the IT services company expands its capabilities across AI infrastructure, cloud operations and enterprise technology services.
The proposed investment will be made through a newly formed subsidiary and its step-down subsidiaries. According to the company, the AI data centre infrastructure has the potential to scale to 50 MW of capacity and will complement HCLTech's existing expertise in AI data centre design, DevOps, AI cloud operations and software services.
The announcement comes as enterprises and governments increasingly invest in AI infrastructure to support training and inference workloads, while countries also seek greater control over AI compute capacity and digital infrastructure.
