GritPlex Puts Fully-Enclosed, Dust-Free Sandblasting Right on Your Desk
Startup GritPlex is looking to bring something more readily associated with large-scale material processing to any maker's desk: sandblasting, on scale small enough to sit next to a desktop 3D printer or CNC mill.
"In professional manufacturing, manual sanding is obsolete. Pros use pneumatic blasting to erase layer lines and casting flaws instantly—fast, predictable, and hands-free," says GritPlex's Sal Sun in support of the company's product. "Yet this standard hasn't reached the desktop. Industrial sandblasters are massive, leaky iron boxes that scatter abrasive dust everywhere. Compact, safe alternatives simply don't exist."
