GPD Says Its $1,750 WIN Max 3 Strix Halo Handheld Can't Get Any Cheaper

When you look at a high-end product like the GPD WIN Max 3, you expect a price premium. It's not as slim and trim as the GPD WIN 5 sporting the same silicon, but the micro-laptop form factor of the WIN Max 3 means that it's considerably more useful for actually getting work done. Whether it justifies its $1750 starting price is more debatable, but GPD says that no matter what, it simply can't make the machine any cheaper than that.

Frankly, that's understandable. There's a memory crisis going on, and the machine's Ryzen AI Max processors have a 256-bit memory bus that serves no purpose if you're not filling all of its channels. That means that the absolute minimum memory configuration is 32GB, and that's 32GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM, the memory type arguably in the highest demand besides high-end HBM.
