Google plans to end Pixel production in China by 2027
Google has told suppliers it plans to move all Pixel production out of China from 2027, according to Nikkei Asia. That covers phones, smartwatches and wireless earbuds. Lauly Li reported the plan on 18 August, citing the ongoing tensions between Washington and Beijing. Nikkei named Vietnam and India as the destinations.
The date has moved. A report in January said Google would leave China mostly during 2026, 9to5Google noted. This one puts the complete exit a year later. Ben Schoon pointed out that the effort is not new either, with reports of Google shifting Pixel work to Vietnam going back to 2019.
