Google Health 5.0 Gives the Fitbit App a Rebrand

Google has begun rolling out Google Health 5.0, the first version of the rebranded Fitbit app, to Android users. The update comes after the company announced the Google Health app earlier this month, saying it wanted to create a single place for activity, sleep, and health data across its devices and services. Fitbit hardware will continue to retain its usual branding, but the app experience is now under the Google Health umbrella.

The Google Health app's homescreen offers a four-tab layout: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health.

  • Today shows daily focus metrics and recent activity. Users can pin their most important stats at the top.
  • Fitness tracks workouts and movement goals.
  • Sleep breaks down sleep stages and trends.
  • Health displays metrics including heart rate, SpO₂, weight trends, and nutrition.
