Google has officially launched a standalone Gemini desktop application for Windows 10 and Windows 11, moving its conversational artificial intelligence assistant out of the web browser and directly into desktop operating systems. The software allows users to access generative AI tools, search integrations, and document analysis directly from their computer workspace.

The application introduces global keyboard shortcut support, enabling users to press Alt + Space to evoke a floating AI panel over active applications. This allows for quick context-driven tasks, such as summarizing long text files, drafting email responses, or asking follow-up questions without interrupting current workflows.
