Up to 200 European researchers will get direct access to Google’s most advanced science AI models, plus $3 million in computing credits, Google said today. The offer comes from its AI lab, Google DeepMind, and its cloud arm, Google Cloud.

The models include AlphaFold 3, which predicts the structure of proteins and other molecules, and WeatherNext, which forecasts the weather.

Researchers will also get AlphaGenome, which studies DNA, AlphaEvolve, an AI agent that designs algorithms, and AlphaEarth Foundations, which maps the planet from satellite data.

DeepMind released AlphaFold 3 in May 2024 with Isomorphic Labs, its sister company focused on drug discovery. Since November 2024, academics have been able to download its code and model weights for non-commercial work.

The offer will run through RAISE, the European Union’s programme to help scientists use AI. Google said it wants to help close the gap in computing power that European researchers sometimes...
